Bird Seed & Feeders

Bird Feeders & Seed Garden CenterAsk anyone who keeps a well-stocked bird feeder in their yard and they’ll tell you of the many benefits their hobby brings.

There’s the simple enjoyment that comes from watching colorful birds – cardinals, orioles, blue jays, finches – stop by to feed. But by feeding birds, you’re also setting up a mutually beneficial arrangement. You’re providing them with food; they’re helping in your garden. Birds provide a form of organic pest control by eating insects, as well as helping with weed control and flower pollination.

It’s also a great way to interact with nature if you live in a more suburban/urban environment. Think of birds as an inexpensive “outdoor pet.” And if you’re a painter or a photographer, having a lot of diverse birds around gives you a wealth of subjects.

There are many great reasons to install a bird feeder, and Mendham Garden is here to help. Our experience has shown us that having a good quality bird seed in New Jersey helps our customers to see and to feed a larger variety of birds. And having a high-value bird seed means less waste on the ground.

We offer a number of specialty seeds, including woodpecker blend, cardinal, and chickadee, all designed for that particular species. We can also order 50 lb. bags of millet, safflower, suet, and other feeds. Our bird seeds contain seeds meant for east coast birds, with less filler and waste.

We also carry many varieties of bird feeders from Droll Yankee, Duncraft, Audubon and other brands. We have woodpecker feeders, thistle feeders for finches, and carry – or can order – mealy worm feeders for bluebirds.

And in some backyards, bird feeding can turn into squirrel feeding. If that’s your concern, fear not: we carry a selection of squirrel resistant feeders, along with baffles and poles.

Among our top bird seed in New Jersey selections:

Hearty Delight

The “No Shells, No Mess” Mix, this birdseed features a blend of sunflower hearts and chips, hulled white millet, peanuts and peanut hearts, nyjer seed, and cracked corn. You’ll get no shells, no waste and no mess with Hearty Delight.

Black Oil Sunflower

Our most popular variety, a smaller seed that all birds can enjoy. It’s meatier and has a higher oil content than grey stripe sunflower seeds so that birds get more nutrients and calories.
